My name is Rich Pav.

I’ve been living in Japan since 1990. For over 20 years I worked in IT at various companies big and small in Tokyo. I’m the editor and sound engineer for podcasts like Uncanny Japan and Japan Distilled. My partner and I used to do an audio drama podcast called Uncanny Robot. It was a blast to make back when generative AI was wonky and useless, but the day ChatGPT appeared, we knew AI would become synonymous with “low-effort shit content” and the concept was a dead end.

I also teach English as a foreign language.
